It is being built from direct experience operating imaging systems at sea, processing their data at scale, and working with scientists to turn imagery into defensible observations.

Pelagia brings together 25 years of experience in plankton imaging, instrument engineering, field operations, scientific computing, and zooplankton ecology. It combines the technical capabilities of Icy Seas Co-Laboratory with Bellamare's engineering expertise and deployment experience, plus scientific guidance from Dr. Adam Greer at the University of Georgia Skidaway Institute of Oceanography.
